Week of October 25, 2010
By Dana Byerly, Hello Race Fans Co-founder
Most the action last week centered around Breeder’s Cup preparations and decisions. As the fields start to take shape and the contenders put in their final workouts, the Breeders’ Cup is now less than two weeks away! We’ve added a Breeders’ Cup section on our links page to make it easy for you find all the excellent information that Breeders’ Cup season has to offer. You can also follow all the commentary on the three hottest topics at Raceday 360 Wire: Breeder’s Cup, workouts and Zenyatta.
In other racing news last weekend the New York Showcase took place at Belmont Park, capped off by a record setting performance by Friend or Foe in the featured Empire Classic. In the Grade 2 Raven Run for 3-year-old fillies at Keeneland, 6-1 Hilda’s Passion took the honors while longshots Decelerator (73-1) and Tremendamente Loca (42-1) lit up the board in second and third producing giant payouts of $820.20 for a $2 exacta and a whopping $20,408 for a $2 trifecta. Keeneland’s short fall meet comes to an October 30 and Churchill’s fall meet opens October 31.
This week at the site we’ll bring you more Breeders’ Cup information with a Ten Things You Should Know about the Ladies Classic and a look at how to enjoy event from the comfort of your own home. At Raceday 360, we’ll spend Two Minutes with Chris McCarron discussing who he thinks are the best young jockeys.
